Great Wall Heavy Industry Helps Mining Trucks Beat the Summer Heat
As temperatures continue to rise across many regions, with some areas exceeding 40°C, mining equipment faces one of its toughest operating seasons. High temperatures can increase equipment failure rates, reduce machine availability, and impact overall mining productivity. To address these challenges, Great Wall Heavy Industry combines its self-developed electric powertrain technology with a preventive service system to ensure reliable performance throughout the summer.
High temperatures place mining trucks under three major pressures. Air conditioning systems operate under heavier loads as dust clogs filters and contaminates condensers, reducing cooling efficiency inside the cab. Tire pressure and temperature also increase under prolonged exposure to heat, raising the risk of tire damage. In addition, battery thermal management systems work harder in hot environments, and insufficient cooling maintenance may lead to power reduction or protective shutdowns.
To meet these challenges, Great Wall Heavy Industry has developed an advanced electric powertrain system specifically for demanding mining applications. The battery features an innovative sandwich-style liquid cooling structure, with cooling plates positioned directly between battery cells to shorten heat transfer paths and improve thermal efficiency. The wide-temperature battery system supports stable operation from -35°C to 45°C, ensuring dependable performance in both extreme cold and intense summer heat.
Proper maintenance is equally important for maximizing equipment reliability. Regular inspection and replacement of air conditioning filters, cleaning condensers and radiators, and checking cooling fan performance help maintain a comfortable operating environment. Tire pressure and temperature should be monitored frequently, with adjustments made whenever necessary to improve safety. During charging, operators should keep battery cooling passages clear of debris, clean the thermal management condenser and cooling fans regularly, and avoid prolonged high-current charging during the hottest hours of the day.
As part of its preventive service program, Great Wall Heavy Industry provides customers with routine maintenance reminders, early fault warnings, and professional technical support. By identifying potential issues before failures occur, the company helps customers improve equipment availability, reduce downtime, and maintain stable mining operations throughout the summer.
