Commonly Used Machinery for Roadbed Engineering
Roadbed engineering is an engineering structure constructed in an open-air environment by artificial methods using geotechnical materials. It mainly involves technologies such as roadbed filling construction, roadbed compaction construction, and roadbed drainage construction. To improve efficiency and reduce manual labor, various mechanical equipment is often used for roadbed construction, so the tools used are also different, but the main ones that are often used are the following:
1. Excavator
The excavator is one of the common earthwork excavation machinery. It is flexible and multifunctional and can adapt to various engineering environments. The excavator is driven by a hydraulic system and has various attachments and power ranges. It can be used for excavation, cutting, and loading soil and rocks.
2. Hook machine
A hook machine is a machine that integrates the functions of forward, backward, rotation, lifting, lowering, excavation, hydraulic hammering, adsorption, etc. It uses a bucket to excavate materials above or below the bearing surface and load them into transport vehicles or unload them to the stockpile yard.
3. Bulldozer
A bulldozer is a kind of earth-moving machinery that can dig, transport, and dump rock and soil. It is widely used in open-pit mines. For example, it is used to build dumps, level automobile dumps, pile up scattered ore and rock, level work plates and construction sites, etc. It is not only used for auxiliary work but also for main mining work.
4. Road Roller
Road roller, also known as earth roller, is a kind of road repair equipment. Road roller belongs to the category of road equipment in engineering machinery. It is widely used in filling and compaction operations of large-scale engineering projects such as high-grade highways, railways, airport runways, dams, and stadiums. It can roll sandy, semi-viscous, and cohesive soils, roadbed stabilized soils, and asphalt concrete pavement layers.
5. Vibratory Hammer
The vibratory hammer is designed using resonance theory. When the vibration frequency of the pile is consistent with the vibration frequency of the soil particles, the soil particles resonate. At this time, sufficient vibration speed and acceleration can quickly destroy the adhesion between the pile and the soil, so that the pile body and the soil transition from a compacted state to an instantaneous separation state, and the pile sinking resistance, especially the side resistance, is rapidly reduced, and the pile sinks under the action of its weight.
6. Dynamic compaction
Dynamic compaction is to use of a large crawler-type dynamic compaction machine to drop an 8-30 ton hammer freely from a height of 6-30 meters to strongly compact the soil, improve the bearing capacity and compression modulus of the foundation, form a relatively uniform and dense foundation, and change the pore distribution of the foundation soil within a certain depth of the foundation.
The above machines play an important role in roadbed engineering, which can not only shorten the construction period but also improve the safety and reliability of construction.
